About

With a sense of wonder at the first note he ever played on the piano at the age of 4...

...Eric knew that music was going to be a part of the fabric of who he is. Eric Ngo is a dynamic pianist, accompanist and educator from Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

He’s had the honour of studying classical and jazz piano genres under the likes of John Robertson, Gary de Boeck, Allen Reiser, and Marilyn Engle at both Mount Royal College (University) and the University of Calgary. Further enriching his studies, Eric has participated in masterclasses with Jon Kimura-Parker, Lee Kum Sing, and David Moroz. Throughout his performance career, he has been the recipient of various awards and scholarships.

In his 25 years as a music educator, many of Eric's students have successfully participated in music festivals, competitions, and examinations. Some have even continued to pursue music studies in post secondary institutions. Eric’s passion and level of excellence in performance lends to his teaching style - empowering students to handle their own performances with confidence.

He is an active accompanist to vocalists, choral groups, instrumentalists, musical theatre, ballet companies and currently serves at his church as a music director and keyboardist.

Eric Ngo has been an accompanist for my choirs for over twenty years. In that time, we have been honored to have an incredibly talented, dedicated, and reliable professional accompany our rehearsals, workshops, and performances. Working with Eric has been a joy and we are truly grateful he has shared his talent and time with us.

Eric Ngo is an amazing piano teacher who combines his love for music, with his passion for working with kids in a fun and dynamic way. I have taught with Eric within Kiddo Productions for our musical theatre and drama programs and have been so blessed to watch how he mentors each individual and lights up when they achieve their goals.

I have known Eric for the better part of 20 years now and have been lucky enough to watch him evolve as a musician/performer & instructor. His lifelong training has proven success and has always carried himself with professionalism and integrity. I have been recommending him for years and not one student or associate has been disappointed.

We were so lucky to find Eric to continue our boys’ musical education on piano.... Eric showed such amazing patience and encouragement. He was able to break challenges down into manageable chunks and in a very deliberative way such that my son learned some very essential lessons. My son has continued to build on the skills he learned from Eric and is continuing his musical journey as a student in Boston at Berklee College of Music. We credit Eric with providing our son with the excellent base of musical skills, determination and enthusiasm that were necessary for him to achieve his musical goals.

Taking lessons with Eric gave me technical fundamentals for playing music which have been irreplaceable in my growth as a musician. Understanding concepts such as major and minor keys, intervals and chords gave me a baseline for the more advanced concepts I deal with now. I still use the piano as a tool for writing and performing music today because of the familiarity and appreciation I gained from my lessons with Eric.
